This new Jet GH-1440B Geared Head Bench Lathe is engineered for smooth, quiet operation and user versatility. Positioned on a heavy-duty cast iron stand with a newly added built-in footbrake, the GH-1440B includes precision induction hardened ground bed-ways, spindle roller bearings, and high-quality steel hardened gears in the headstock for ultimate working durability. The GH1440B also includes a patented electronic chuck key docking station that prevents startup without the chuck key when safely docked. Features: • Compound and cross slide have backlash adjustment • Emergency stop within easy reach of the Operator • Enclosed gearbox design provides smooth, quiet operation • Gearbox gives wide range of inch and metric threading and feed capabilities with few gear changes • Spindle Spider available for ease of turning Gun barrels • Standard Accessories • Steady Rest with Roller Bearings • Tailstock may be offset for turning taper
