Pocket hole screws work with kreg or castle jigs. The modified pan head works with either application, while the round washer head is primarily used in kreg style applications. Pocket hole screws with fine thread are used in hardwoods, such as oak and maple. The coarse thread provides greater holding power in softer woods like particle board and melamine. The hi-low thread is best for red oak as it reduces strip-out in the woods.
