A Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet Built Around a Matte Black Statement
The Karran Elwood is a single-handle pull-down kitchen faucet in a Matte Black finish, designed for kitchens where the hardware is part of the visual design. A retractable pull-down spray head and dual-function spray performance keep it functional at the sink, while the bold, non-reflective finish makes it a natural anchor for darker or contrast-driven kitchen palettes.
Key Features
• Matte Black finish gives the faucet a clean, low-sheen look that coordinates well with dark cabinetry, black sinks, and mixed-metal kitchen schemes.
• Pull-down spray head on a retractable hose reaches deep bowls, wide workstations, and both sides of a double-bowl sink.
• Dual-function spray head switches between an aerated stream for filling and a powerful spray for rinsing and cleaning.
• Single-lever control manages flow and temperature with one hand, keeping the deck clean and operation straightforward.
• Ceramic cartridge is rated to 1.5 million cycles, supporting years of daily use at the kitchen sink.
• Single-hole mounting works with sinks and countertops drilled for one faucet hole, with mounting hardware and supply lines included.
Where This Faucet Works Best
The Elwood suits kitchens undergoing a full hardware refresh and designers coordinating faucets with Matte Black cabinet pulls, sink strainers, or lighting fixtures. It fits sinks with a single faucet deck hole, or countertops drilled for one hole, making it a natural choice alongside Karran's undermount and top mount kitchen sinks that rely on countertop faucet drillings. The pull-down hose length and 360-degree swivel spout extend its reach across double-bowl layouts and wide workstation sinks without repositioning the whole faucet. Homeowners who hand-wash large pots, prep vegetables over a deep bowl, or just want the spray mode for rinsing out the sink will get day-to-day value from the two-function head beyond what a fixed aerator can deliver.
Finish, Materials, and Build
The Matte Black finish on the Elwood is applied by PVD, the same durable physical vapor deposition process Karran uses across its kitchen faucet line. PVD bonds the finish at a material level rather than layering it on top, which gives the Matte Black its consistency and longevity in a high-use environment. The faucet body is lead-free brass. The pull-down hose is a nylon braid color-matched to the finish. The internal valve is a ceramic cartridge rated to 1.5 million cycles by the manufacturer, and the spout height is 17-3/16 inches overall.
The Right Fit for the Renovation or the New Build
Cabinet shops specifying complete kitchen packages, designers building out a dark or contrast kitchen, and homeowners doing a one-time renovation all land in the same place with this faucet: a finish that shows up clearly in a finished space and hardware that performs reliably day to day. The Elwood pairs naturally with Karran's Matte Black sink accessories and drain components for a coordinated look across the full sink setup. Because it mounts through a single hole and ships with its hardware and supply lines, the path from box to installed is direct.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Matte Black finish show water spots or fingerprints?
Matte finishes are generally more forgiving with water spots and fingerprints than polished or high-gloss finishes, since there is no mirror surface to reflect them. The PVD application process used here adds durability to the finish layer itself. For a fully spot-resistant option, Karran also offers a Spot Free Stainless Steel finish in the Elwood line.
What is the difference between the aerated stream and the spray on the dual-function head?
The aerated stream mixes air into the water flow to produce a soft, splatter-controlled arc, which is good for filling pots and glasses. The spray function delivers a concentrated, higher-pressure rinse, better suited for clearing food from dishes or cleaning down the bowl. You toggle between the two at the spray head.
My countertop has three faucet holes. Can I still use this faucet?
The Elwood mounts through a single hole. If your countertop or sink deck has additional pre-drilled holes, they can typically be covered with a deck plate, which is sold separately. Check that the deck plate finish matches before ordering.
Does the pull-down head retract automatically, or do I push it back?
The spray head retracts back onto the spout after use. If the source data for this specific model confirms magnetic docking, that detail will be in the structured spec block on this page. The nylon braided hose is sized for the reach the model provides.
Is a soap dispenser included with this faucet?
No soap dispenser is included. Karran's SD25 and SD35 soap dispensers are available separately and offered in finishes that coordinate with the Elwood, including Matte Black.
Hardware That Looks Deliberate, Functions All Day
The Elwood in Matte Black gives a kitchen sink the kind of finished, intentional look that stands out once the rest of the space comes together, without trading away the practical performance a working kitchen actually needs.
