A Hands-Free Kitchen Faucet Built for Heavy-Use Workflows
The Karran Alston is a touchless, single-handle pull-down kitchen faucet in Gunmetal Gray, combining motion-sensor activation with a retractable spray head to keep water running when your hands are full, messy, or occupied elsewhere at the sink.
Key Features
• Touch-free sensor activation starts and stops the flow with a wave of your hand, no contact required.
• Single lever control sets water temperature and flow rate independently of the sensor.
• Pull-down spray head delivers a retractable hose directly into the bowl for rinsing, filling, and cleaning.
• Dual-function spray head switches between an aerated stream and a powerful spray.
• Single-hole mounting simplifies installation on sinks and countertops with one deck drilling.
• Gunmetal Gray finish applied by PVD for a durable, coordinated look at the sink.
Where Touchless Makes the Difference
The Alston's motion sensor earns its keep in kitchens that see real volume. When you're breaking down a whole chicken, kneading dough, or transferring a stock pot from stove to sink, reaching for a handle without contaminating it is the kind of friction that slows down the work. The sensor reads a wave of the hand to start or stop flow instantly, so you never need to touch the faucet between dirty tasks. The dual-function pull-down head adds range: an aerated stream handles everyday rinsing, and the spray mode switches on for scrubbing sheet pans or moving water quickly across a wide bowl. The retractable hose returns to the spout without fussing, keeping the counter area clear between uses.
Gunmetal Gray: Finish, Material, and Long-Term Performance
Gunmetal Gray sits in Karran's PVD finish family, a physical vapor deposition process that bonds the finish to the faucet body rather than painting or plating over it. The result is a darker, matte-leaning tone that reads as warm gray with depth, distinct from chrome's high shine and from matte black's flat darkness. It coordinates well with dark stainless hardware, concrete-look countertops, and cabinet finishes in charcoal, navy, or two-tone schemes. The faucet body is lead-free brass beneath the finish. A ceramic cartridge rated to 1.5 million cycles governs flow and temperature, and the nylon braided hose matches the Gunmetal Gray of the body.
The Right Fit for This Faucet
The Alston is a natural match for working kitchens where cross-contamination between the sink and food-prep surfaces is a standing concern: home cooks who handle raw proteins often, households with young children who are not reliable about rinsing before touching fixtures, or any kitchen where two people regularly work the sink at the same time. For design-led kitchens, the Gunmetal Gray finish coordinates directly with Karran's Gunmetal Gray soap dispensers and accessories, allowing a consistent hardware story across the sink station. Single-hole mounting makes this faucet compatible with most undermount and top mount sinks, and with countertops drilled for a single faucet hole.
Can the sensor be turned off so the faucet works as a standard manual lever?
Yes. The single lever operates independently of the sensor, so you can set flow and temperature manually at any time. The sensor adds a hands-free option but does not replace manual control.
Does the Gunmetal Gray finish show water spots or fingerprints?
Gunmetal Gray is a PVD finish — not a Spot Free variant in this line. Like other PVD finishes, it is durable and resists everyday wear, but it is not specifically formulated to repel water spots the way Karran's Spot Free finish family is. Wipe dry after use in hard-water areas for best appearance.
What accessories coordinate with this faucet in Gunmetal Gray?
Karran offers soap dispensers in matching finish families. Confirm the exact model number on the accessory page to ensure finish coordination with this faucet's Gunmetal Gray.
Is the spray head retractable or does it stay extended?
The pull-down spray head is retractable — it travels into the bowl on its hose and returns to dock at the spout after use.
Precision Where It Counts
The Alston in Gunmetal Gray brings sensor-controlled convenience and pull-down flexibility to a single-hole faucet that handles the full range of kitchen demands — from quick rinses to deep-clean scrubbing — without sacrificing the finish quality or control your kitchen expects.
